I finally found my winter socks! Follkee Merino Wool Socks for Women and Men – Ultra Soft, Medium Thick. You can wash&dry without them binding up and becoming useless. Buy a size smaller than your usual.

But stay away from Follkee Merino Wool Socks high content 99% wool Thick Hiking Socks. They will shrink and bind up and get holes in them. They're a different kind of construction.

I'm extremely happy with the look and craftsmenship of these. in my size fits a bit snug maybe go a half size up if your concerned (13.5). Warm but not sweltering. I expect they will hold up well as long as I dont wear them in the snow.
